A former Detroit man was shot dead Thursday after a sword protruded in the middle of the street and dropped a dagger to a police officer.
Detroit Police Chief James Craig said the incident occurred at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday on the Grand River and Meyers Rd in northwest Detroit.
“The suspect was standing in the middle of the street armed with a sword,” Craig told Thursday night, The Detroit News reported. When the officers left, they ordered him to be dropped. At some point, the suspect removes the second sword; i think he had three, in addition, a dagger.

“He throws his dagger and hits the officer out of sight,”; Craig reported. “The officer is deploying his electric razor, but the suspect appears to be carrying tactical gear and that car does not take effect.
“Then the official’s partner fired a circle, hitting the suspect,” Craig added.
The suspect continued to harass the officers and jumped on the side of the driver of one of the patrol cars.
“A good Samaritan, seeing what was going on … took his personal vehicle and used it to block the suspect,” Craig told reporters.
The chief said it was unclear which excath occurred later, but the suspect was taken to hospital and surrendered to his injuries.
The officer who was hit by the dagger is being treated at a local hospital for a rupture under the right eye.
The case is still under investigation. The shooting today was the third police mortality this month in Detroit and the fourth police department shooting.

In an incident last week, an official was approached by a man caught selling drugs with a partially hidden weapon that led to the pursuit of a leg. The suspect then dropped the gun on the officer. The suspect was shot and injured by an official, reports The Detroit News.
Another police-related shooting took place on 19 July. After a quick chase during which the car crashed into a tree. The suspects got out of the vehicle to run away and one person pulled out a pistol. Police shot and killed the suspect.

It is reported that on July 10. In a video released, 20-year-old Hakim Littleton showed the man shot at a police officer on foot. Police returned fire, shot and killed.
