Google reportedly in talks with Samsung to assist assistant through Bixby

According to a Bloomberg report, Google and Samsung are discussing an agreement that would give the U.S. technical giant’s services more focus on Samsung phones at the expense of the Korean manufacturer. The agreement is said to cover advertising for Google Assistant and the Play Store using alternatives offered by Samsung.

Samsung is the world’s largest smartphone company and the leading Android phone maker in the United States to date. While its phones run Google’s Android operating system, Samsung has constantly tried to build its own ecosystem of Android-based software, including Bixby Voice Assistant and Galaxy App Store. Its Google products can still be found on Samsung phones, but Samsung has been working to make it the most affordable option for Bixby customers to include special buttons in their hardware.

Google and Samsung have not previously intervened in smartphone maker applications for Android, and Samsung reportedly agreed to mitigate some of its TouchWiz enhancements in 201

4. While it looks like Google may still be unhappy with what has come to light since then, Samsung will take that persuasion. time. The possible terms of the deal were not disclosed, but, according to Bloomberg, Google has entered into a multi-billion dollar deal with Apple to make it the default search provider in Safari.

Another turning point in this story is that the news comes when Google joins other technology giants in an attempt to convince U.S. lawmakers that it is not abusing its power. The Play Store and Google’s mandatory bundled service on Android phones have received tighter antitrust controls, and the agreement with Samsung could refute Google’s argument that the Android platform enables strong competition.

“Samsung remains committed to its ecosystem and services,” a Samsung spokesman told Bloomberg. “At the same time, Samsung is working closely with Google and other partners to offer our users the best mobile experience.”

“Like all Android device manufacturers, Samsung is free to build its own app store and digital assistant,” said a Google spokesman. “This is one of the great features of the Android platform. And while we’re constantly discussing with partners how to improve the user experience, we’re not going to change that. “
