Virginia Gov Ralph Northam has been interviewed for interviews with slaves to "express servants".
Speaking to CBS This Morning host Gayle King, the scandal hit Democrat was urged to discuss his experience with
"Now we are 400 years of jubilee – only 90 miles from here in 1619, the first settled servants from Africa landed on our shore at Old Point Comfort, what we call now at Fort Monroe, – started Northam until the king quickly corrected it:
Experienced servants were men and women who signed a contract that says they arrive to America and works for a number of years in exchange for a room, board and freedom taxes. Here the slaves were brought – against their will – and forced to work without any hope of gaining their freedom. Those slaves who decided to run away from their "masters" were beaten, hunger and / or killed.
The Northam refused to abandon the widespread and bilateral calls to resign
