With college football schedules across the country and the COVID-19 pandemic, the SEC announced Thursday afternoon that it had moved to a schedule of 10 games, conference only, in 2020. For the season. The SEC is pushing the start of its season on Saturday, Sept. 26, as originally scheduled for 2020. Campaign Week 4.

It is not known at this time how the SEC will complete the two additional games on its conference schedule, as the revised set of games will be announced later by the league. SEC members traditionally play eight conference games each season: six within their respective divisions, one regular cross-division opponent, and one rotary cross-division rival.

As the season progresses to Sept. 26, the SEC Championship game will be postponed for two weeks to Saturday, Dec. 1

It is currently unknown how the SEC decision may affect ACC scheduling plans for the four major non-conference match games (Florida-Florida State, Clemson-South Carolina, Georgia-Georgia Tech, Kentucky-Louisville). Auburn also had to play in North Carolina this season.

The remaining Marquee non-conference games this season involving SEC teams were LSU-Texas and Tennessee-Oklahoma. The Big 12 have not yet announced any solid plans for their 2020 targets. The loss of schedules, though, of these games can affect its decision-making process.
