SEOUL (Reuters). South Korea has stated that it is investigating alleged safety issues in vehicles manufactured by Tesla Inc. in the United States (TSLA.O), which is in strong competition with Hyundai Motor Co.005380.KS) In the South Korean electric car market.
The braking and steering systems, including the Autopilot feature, were part of the investigation, a transport ministry official said on Wednesday.
The ministry declined to elaborate, but South Korean media said Tesla’s Model 3 was under investigation, and the probe could take six months to a year.
Tesla will cooperate in the investigation, an official from its South Korea division said.
